Why Choose a Brindle American Bully
Brindle is a striping pattern: irregular dark bands laid over a lighter red, fawn or tan base, giving the tiger-stripe effect the pattern is named for. It ranges from a few faint stripes to "reverse brindle", where the striping is so dense the dog reads almost black with light flecks through it.
It has fallen out of fashion in the American Bully purely because merle and tri have taken the attention, which is a shame. Brindle is a genuinely old, genuinely characteristic bull-breed pattern and it holds up better against sun fading than most dilute coats.

The Detail
What Makes a Brindle American Bully
Brindle comes from the kbr allele at the K locus. It sits below dominant black (KB) and above the recessive k allele in the dominance hierarchy, which means a dog needs no copies of KB and at least one kbr to show brindle.
The base color underneath determines the variety: red brindle on a red base, blue brindle where the dilution gene is also present, chocolate brindle on a chocolate base. Because a dominant black dog can carry brindle invisibly, two solid black parents can produce brindle puppies.
