An XL Bully is an American Bully in the XL size class. The same breed, the same written standard, scaled up. Males stand 20 to 23 inches and mature at 90 to 130 pounds. The outline should stay square and compact: heavy bone, wide front, short back, deep chest. Height without width is not what the class means.

Temperament. What living with one is actually like

Calm indoors, confident outdoors, and extremely attached to its people. An XL Bully is a companion breed with no working drive to burn off, which is why it settles so well in a family home. With children it is patient to a fault. With strangers it is typically friendly to neutral rather than protective. This is not a guarding breed, whatever its appearance suggests.

Are XL Bullies good family dogs?

Yes. It is what the breed was created for and what the standard requires, a stable, gentle, people-oriented dog. Aggression toward people is a disqualifying fault. Temperament is heritable, so it is something we select for in every pairing rather than hope for.

How big do XL Bullies get?

Males 20–23 inches and 90–130 pounds; females 19–22 inches and 80–110 pounds. Height is largely set by twelve months, with width and head continuing to develop until about two and a half years.

What's the difference between an XL Bully and a Pitbull?

They are separate breeds with a shared ancestor. The American Pit Bull Terrier is a lean, athletic, high-drive working dog.
