Can You Get a Quality American Bully Under $300?

Almost never from a breeder, and the reason is arithmetic rather than snobbery. Here is what a responsible breeder spends per puppy before it leaves:

That is before the breeder's time, before facilities, before the cost of the parent dogs. A $300 puppy means someone is losing money. Or, far more often, that most of the list above never happened.

American Bully Puppies Under $300: What to Expect

The genuine exceptions at this level are rehomes and breed rescue. Both are legitimate, both are worth pursuing, and neither is what most sub-$300 listings actually are.

Risks of Buying Cheap American Bully Puppies

Two categories: the puppy that arrives with problems, and the puppy that never arrives at all.

If the puppy is real

• No health screening. Hip dysplasia surgery: $4,000–$7,000 per hip. Congenital cardiac disease: often untreatable.
• Infectious disease. Parvo treatment runs $1,500–$5,000 and is frequently fatal. Puppies sold too young without a full vaccination course are the classic source.
• Untreated parasites. Cheap to fix, but they stunt growth and damage the gut during the weeks that matter most.
• Unknown temperament. Heritable, and unassessed. In a breed that reaches 100 pounds, that is not a small unknown.
• Too young to leave. Puppies removed before eight weeks miss critical social learning from the litter and it shows for years.

If the puppy is not real

Sub-$300 listings are the highest-fraud segment of the entire market. The pattern is consistent: a low price, stolen photographs, a deposit request, then escalating fees. Shipping, a special crate, insurance, customs — until the buyer stops paying. There was never a puppy.

• They will not send a dated video. Ask for thirty seconds of the puppy with its mother, recorded that day with your name written on paper in shot. A refusal means there is no mother to film.
• The price drops when you hesitate. Real breeders have waiting lists and do not negotiate against themselves.
• Payment by gift card, crypto or wire only. Every one of these is irreversible, which is the entire point of asking for them.
• Shipping costs appear after the deposit. The classic puppy scam: a deposit, then a crate fee, then insurance, then a customs charge.
• Stock photography. Reverse image search the photos before you send anything.
• No address, no landline, no kennel name. A real program has a location you could drive to.
• "Papers are being processed." They are not.

What a Reputable Breeder Includes

• Health screening on both parents: hips, elbows and cardiac, with records you can actually see
• Age-appropriate vaccinations, given on schedule and documented
• A completed deworming course, not one that was started
• A veterinary health certificate dated within days of collection
• A written health guarantee you can read before you pay
• Pedigree paperwork naming both parents and their ancestors
• A contract setting out what happens if something goes wrong
• A breeder who takes the dog back at any point in its life

Affordable American Bully Puppies: Better Options

1. Breed rescue. Adoption fees run $150–$400 and usually include neutering, vaccinations and a temperament assessment. This is the genuinely affordable route, and it is a better dog than a $300 listing.
2. An older puppy from a breeder. A five-month-old that did not sell is often placed at a substantial discount, fully vaccinated, to the right home.
3. A payment plan. Many breeders will hold a puppy on a deposit while you pay the balance over several weeks. Ask, most people never do.
4. Save a little longer. The gap between $300 and $700 is far smaller than the gap between a healthy dog and a $5,000 vet bill.
