What Makes a Chocolate Tri American Bully
Two homozygous recessive requirements: b/b at the B locus for the chocolate base, and at/at at the A locus for the tan points. Both parents must carry both genes for a chocolate tri to be possible at all.
Because both are recessive and invisible in carriers, two solid-colored parents can produce a chocolate tri unexpectedly. And two chocolate tris will always produce chocolate tris. This is why tri points spread quickly through a program once they are established in it.
